Birthday Parties

Celebrate your child's birthday with a unique experience in a Science Museum of Virginia vintage train car! 

Parties feature:

• 1 ½ hours on the party train car
• Hands-on activities or a DOME Feature
• Free admission to all permanent Museum exhibits
• Digital invitation cards (click here for an example)
• A special t-shirt for the birthday child
• Plates, cups, napkins, flatware and plastic tablecloths
• Party set up, clean up and assistance
• 10% discount in the gift shop for all your guests on the day of your party.

Choose from these hands-on activities:

Dig into Dinosaurs - Step back in time and encounter the “terrible lizards” that roamed the Earth during the Jurassic period. Party guests will make a "fossil" and be a paleontologist digging for shark’s teeth. Recommended for children turning 5-7 years old.

Awesome Astronomy - This activity is a star gazer’s delight. Learn about what‘s out there in space while making a constellation viewer and launching straw rockets in this science fun supernova! Recommended for children turning 5-10 years old.

Fizz, Bubble and Goop - Be a chemist! Make strange, gooey substances and bubbling concoctions! Recommended for children turning 7-12 years old.

Dome Feature - In lieu of a hands-on activity, choose a Dome feature from our current schedule for your party guests! Recommended for all ages.

Parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays at noon and 3 pm. $350 ($300 for Museum members) for up to 15 children turning 5 - 12 years old and five adults.
